I know right off the bat here that I'm gonna leave out a lot of people's favorite bands and/or albums. Well...if I do it's not by design. My advice to those folks is to put up a page of their own and list what makes their own necks snap! Believe it or not, as I was putting this list together I found myself wanting to expand it to "Top 100" of all time but even then I knew I would still leave out a lot of good music that has been thrashed out over the years.
Bands like Anthrax, Pantera and AC/DC have never (in my own humble opinion) NEVER put out a bad album. The ones I listed here just seem to be always lying on top of my sound rack and never seem to be put away. Sorry kids but...I don't consider Zepplin or Jethro Tull (EFG) Heavy Metal. And I'm not puttin em down either! I have a Zep Tattoo so shut up!
I guess in the great big, grand scheme of things I just had some time to kill and put this page up in order to keep busy while I destroyed what's left of my ear drums!
The wav you hear on this page is Anthrax's "Fueled" from the album "442 Stomp".
Enjoy...

#1 Black Sabbath "Master of Reality"

The album that started it all for me back in 1971. The first time I heard this album I was hooked. Long before Angus Young made that "Devil Guitar" Gibson SG his trademark, Tony Iommie was weilding his much like an executioner's axe on smoke filled stages in places like The Fillmore East and at California Jam. This album, more than any other, defined the "Heavy Metal" sound as Ozzy and the boys welded together a sound that hammered along like an earthquake through the Rock & Roll underground of the early seventies.

#2 Ozzy Osbourne "Blizzard of Oz"

I know exactly where I was at 8:00 P.M. on August 18th, 1980. I know because it was the first time "Crazy Train" was ever played on the radio in Cleveland. I was sitting in my car at a red light at the intersection of Front Street and Route 237 in Berea, Ohio. I couldn't get enough volume out of my radio as Randy Rhodes burned down everything I had previously thought I was capable of doing with a guitar. It was the beginning of an era. Heavy Metal was about to be re-born in it's newest and most technically complex form. Many imitators have come and gone but, Randy Rhodes was the genious and Ozzy was the architect.

#3 JUDAS PRIEST "BRITISH STEEL"

Back in 1980 it was damned hard to find kick ass Rock and Roll. New wave was in and long hair was out. Well, for those of us who didn't follow fashion and could care less about trendy shit, we hunted Heavy Metal with a demanding ear. It had to be great or it didn't make it. Judas Priest came along with their 5th offering and as usual, they didn't disappoint. And hey! Their latest release, Jugulator, isn't too shabby either!

#4 AC/DC "BACK IN BLACK"

I was an AC/DC fan in 1974. Long before they were known by the masses in America I was buyin' bootleg copies of "High Voltage" and "Dirty Deeds". When I saw them live in Cleveland at the Palace Theater it was and has remained the best concert I ever made it to. 1979 was the end of an era. When Bon Scott died I thought the band was done. How could they replace his voice? The voice that seemed to fit perfectly with the raw lyrics and dirty guitar riffs. Well, along comes Brian Johnson and in 1980, "Back in Black" made a believer out of me all over again.

#6 Megadeth "Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?"

What do you mean, "I don't believe in God"?
I talk to him every day.
What do you mean, "I don't support your system"?
I go to court when I have to.
What do you mean, "I can't get to work on time"?
I got nothing better to do
And, what do you mean, "I don't pay my bills"?
Why do you think I'm broke? Huh?
Chorus
If there's a new way,
I'll be the first in line.
But, it better work this time.
What do you mean, "I hurt your feelings"?
I didn't know you had any feelings.
What do you mean, "I ain't kind"?
I'm just not your kind.
What do you mean, "I couldn't be president, of the United States of America"?
Tell me something, it's still "We the people", right?
Chorus (repeat)
If there's a new way I'll be the first in line, But, it better work this time. Can you put a price on peace?
